Fallen Ballad Heroes. The appearance of the popular sense of justice in the ballads of János Arany In my study, I examine the emergence of popular legal consciousness in some of János Arany's ballads. The world of law can often seem chaotic, but folklore and the fiction that uses it as a source help us to understand how our ancestors lived and thought, what moral and legal norms governed their everyday lives. I also look at how the perception of crime has changed.
